Demerit points in Victoria
Victorian demerit points come from Schedule 3 of the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019. This page renders that table and the recording mechanics — and is honest about the boundary: the suspension thresholds themselves are set by the Road Safety Act, not by this instrument, and this site does not restate a figure it has not sourced.

Demerit points are not a payment and not part of the fine: they are entries recorded against a driver, and each offence's figure comes from its own row of Schedule 3 to the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019.
The table below renders the Schedule 3 rows this site carries — the offences Victorians most ask about — with the schedule’s own descriptions and provision references reproduced unshortened. It is a selection, not the whole schedule: the item numbers keep the gaps the selection leaves. Points sit in a different instrument from dollar amounts, which is why nothing in this table is money and why the fine pages cite a different schedule.

Speeding: the schedule prices two bands, and stops
Schedule 3 prices ONLY these two speeding bands. There is NO Schedule 3 row for exceeding by 25 km/h or more — a page must render that as the schedule’s own shape, never project a band from elsewhere (Sch 4’s interstate 15/30/45 bands do NOT mirror these).

Double demerits in Victoria
The Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019 — the instrument that prescribes every Victorian demerit-point value — contain no double-demerit, holiday-period or point-multiplication provision of any kind. Every Schedule 3 and Schedule 4 row carries a single fixed point value, and reg 72(1) defines "the appropriate number of demerit points" as the number specified in column 3, admitting no multiplier.

How many points before suspension — why no number appears here
The Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019 prescribe how demerit points are recorded and removed, but the point-count thresholds that trigger an option notice or suspension, the suspension lengths, and the good-behaviour election are all set by the Road Safety Act 1986 itself (ss 35, 36, 40, 41A, 46A, 46H–46I), which this corpus does not yet vendor. No threshold figure from this instrument can be stated.

Mechanics
How points are recorded and removed
The Secretary records points in the Demerits Register, and the regulations are precise about the clocks involved. The three passages below are the payload's sourced strings, quoting the provisions.
Which day the points attach to
Points attach to the day of the OFFENCE: “For the purposes of section 35(3) of the Act, the Secretary must record demerit points in the Demerits Register in relation to the day on which the offence was committed.” (reg 75(1))
Withdrawn notices and reversed payments
Recording triggers are wider than conviction: paying the notice penalty records points (reg 73(1)(b)); so does making the first payment under a payment plan where that payment is subsequently reversed, charged back or dishonoured (reg 73(1)(ba), as reg 73(4) defines “relevant first infringement payment”); and so does the notice being withdrawn by the enforcement agency under section 25(2)(b) or (c) of the Infringements Act 2006 (reg 73(1)(bb)) — with no conviction condition on that limb. The Secretary must not record points if more than 12 months have elapsed since being duly notified of the relevant event (reg 73(3)).
When points are removed
Removal runs from RECORDING, not the offence day: points not the subject of a s.36 option notice, s.41A driving suspension notice or s.46A disqualification notice are removed “after 4 years have elapsed since those demerit points were recorded on the Demerits Register” (reg 78(1)(b)). Two different clocks — reg 75(1) fixes the day points relate to; reg 78(1)(b) counts removal from recording.
