Speeding fines in Victoria
A Victorian speeding fine is priced in penalty units by Schedule 7 of the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2019, and the dollar amount on the notice is those units multiplied by the gazetted unit value. The court maxima under rule 20 are a different layer altogether — presenting one as the other is this market’s classic error, and this page keeps them apart.

The schedule does not price these offences in dollars. Each row states a number of penalty units, and the amount on the notice is that number multiplied by the value of a penalty unit — $209.10 for 1 July 2026–30 June 2027, fixed under the Monetary Units Act 2004 and re-gazetted each financial year. That is why the same offence carries a slightly different dollar figure from one July to the next, while the schedule itself does not change.
The provision that makes this the penalty is reg 70: “For the purposes of section 88(5) of the Act, the infringement penalty for a traffic infringement specified in an item in column 3 of Schedule 7 is the amount prescribed in column 4 of that Schedule for that traffic infringement.”

Schedule 7 prices each speeding band a second time where the offender is a body corporate. These are not what a driver is charged — mixing them into a driver’s table is this page’s named defect, so they get a table of their own.

Detection
Fixed, mobile and average-speed cameras do not change the penalty
How the speed was detected decides who sends the notice, not what the notice charges.
Victoria detects speeding with fixed cameras, mobile cameras, average-speed cameras on some routes, and police officers at the roadside. Whatever the method, the offence is the same offence — exceeding the applicable speed limit — and the infringement penalty comes from the same Schedule 7 row in the ladders above. There is no separate camera tariff, and a camera detection is not priced differently from an officer detection.
This page maps no camera locations and counts no cameras. It also states no speed-measurement tolerance: a tolerance sits outside the fine schedule this page renders, so this site does not state one.
