This site is information, not legal advice. It answers for Victoria; its figures come from the instruments cited on each page; and nothing here is a prediction of what any court, agency or enforcement officer will do in your case.
These terms apply to vicfines.com and to everything published on it. Using the site means accepting them. If you do not accept them, the appropriate response is not to use the site.
Every figure here comes from Victorian instruments — the Road Safety subordinate legislation that prices infringements in penalty units and sets demerit points, and the Monetary Units Act 2004 with its gazetted unit value. Australian road law is state law: nothing on this site describes the law of New South Wales or any other state or territory, and an amount, a unit count or a points figure from here should not be carried across a state border. The About page carries the full recorded finding on that boundary.
Within Victoria, councils also make local laws with their own parking penalties. Where a figure is set locally rather than by the statewide schedules, this site describes the layer and does not print a number for it.
This site is not Fines Victoria and has no connection to it, to Victoria Police, to any council or to any court. It cannot look up a fine, take a payment, extend a deadline, nominate a driver or waive anything — those are the official services’ functions, and this site links to them rather than imitating them.
Every figure on this site is transcribed from a named provision — or derived from one by the rule the instrument itself states, penalty units multiplied by the gazetted unit value — and carries the instrument and the consolidation it was read at. That is the strongest claim available and it is not a guarantee: instruments are amended, the unit value is re-gazetted every July, and a change made recently may not be reflected here yet.
These figures have not yet been through this site’s final review. The provision cited under each table is the authority; where this site and the instrument disagree, the instrument is right and we would like to know about it.
Where a figure lives outside this site’s sources — the demerit-point suspension thresholds, another state’s law — this site says so rather than filling the gap.
It is not legal advice and it does not act for you. It cannot dispute a notice on your behalf, and it knows nothing about your matter.
Decisions that turn money or a licence on an amount should be taken on the notice you were sent, or on advice from someone who has read your matter.
